The Network has an ongoing commitment to facilitate education of physicians as well as allied health care and laboratory professionals. This will enhance expertise in donor searches, cord blood unit selection, graft thaw and infusion, and transplantation best practices and thereby assist in supporting transplant center cord blood transplantation infra-structure.
The Network will strive to promote collaborative research and development partnerships that expands life-saving cord blood transplantation and the use of cord blood for cell therapy. It will seek collaborations and partnerships to address strategies to increase transplant access and equity, particularly for underserved and minority populations. Promotion of innovations in cord blood transplantation approaches and study of correlative biology is another current focus. Promoting the use of cord blood and cord tissue-based cell therapies will also be a future area of interest including immunotherapy and regenerative medicine applications.
